In 2007 the U.S. Mint began producing the first coin in the new Presidential Dollars series and a small number of coins were accidentally released without the usual lettering on the edge. This is a very RARE ERROR that quickly became known as the "Godless" coin because "In God We Trust" was part of the missing inscription on the edge of these coins.

A Bill to have Edge Lettering removed from future Presidential Dollars has passed both the House and Senate!  The "IN GOD WE TRUST" is to be moved from the edge of the coin to the Obverse or Reverse of future Minting.

This should affect the value positively as it will dramatically increase the collectability of these coins, because as a direct result of these ERRORS the whole series had to be changed, making these coins even more unique.  Read more...
